The City had switched to single-stream recycling, which allowed residents to place paper products, cardboard, plastic bottles and jugs, metal cans and glass jars and bottles together in a bin.
As we prepare for the many end-of-the-year festivities, and the heaps of holiday wrapping, cardboard boxes and ribbon that will be generated, it is the ideal time to discuss the importance of recycling.
Following weeks of discussion and research that included a fact-finding field trip to the recycling plant by City Commissioner Jude Bond, officials on Nov. 9 decided on the future of the city’s curbside recycling program.
