The statement issued by the company noted that the Caldwell County Type 1 MSW landfill had an estimated lifespan of 25 years at the time of opening in 2021. Situated in around 500 acres of a 1,200-acre industrial park, it has a capacity to accept a maximum of 3,000 tons of waste per day.

Republic Services acknowledged the acquisitions, saying that it has a strong commitment to sustainability and that the company looks forward to serving customers throughout Austin and Central Texas. It must be noted that the company has acquired several companies and assets this year, as part of its earlier commitment to spend $1 billion in mergers and acquisitions before the year end.

Republic Services now owns the 130 Environmental Park Landfill, after eight years of expiry of its permit for Sunset Hills Landfill.
