Cumberland County Considered as Site for Titanium Recycling Plant

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): American Titanium Metal LLC is reportedly considering several sites in several sites to set up its proposed titanium reprocessing facility, with Cumberland County being one among them. The company is seeking assistance of up to $1.3 billion to launch the recycling facility.

According to a legal notice published by the Cumberland County, the plant would be constructed at 557 Bethune Drive, behind the Goodyear Tire & Rubber factory on Ramsey Street, if it is chosen as the site for the plant. The plant would process items that contain titanium and extract the metal from them. However, no details regarding the number of jobs offered by the facility or expected salaries were provided.

As per county records, the proposed 65-acre parcel of land belongs to Cape Fear River Holdings LLC and managed by Fayetteville developer Franklin “Rusty” Clark III.

The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners have approved a proposal by which an agency called Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority will issue bonds on behalf of American Titanium Metal as per state law. The compamy will be responsible for paying back the debt and taxpayers will not be held responsible if the company defaults in loan repayment.
