Union County to Launch New Pilot to Boost Recycling and Reduce Litter


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Union County Board of County Commissioners announced that the Union County Department of Parks and Recreation will launch a new pilot program to boost recycling and reduce litter in Warinanco Park.

The Union County Bureau of Recycling and Planning and the Union County Department of Parks and Recreation have purchased a total of hundred 96-gallon recycling containers, hundred 96-gallon trash containers, two recycling dumpsters and two trash dumpsters. In addition, it also bought a satellite lifter system for an existing pick-up truck. These are expected to automate trash and recycling pick-ups in Warinanco Park.

Also, signage will provide clear message as to where to dispose of trash and recycling. The park visitors will also be provided with brochures with clear guidelines, both in English and Spanish.

The initiative is being funded by through Union County’s application of the Recycling Enhancement Act Grant and the Clean Communities Grant through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded, Chairwoman, Union County Commissioner noted that the program will make it easier for vistors to locate recycling and trash bins throughout the park. All residents and visitors are encouraged totake part in the program, she added.
