Mecklenburg County Implemented Enhanced Recycling Program

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Macklenburg County’s enhanced recycling program aims to recycle more materials, thus preventing more materials from ending up in landfills. The County’s full-service recycling centres have begun accepting additional materials as mentioned in the newly released list of accepted materials.

The list now includes several items, including items such as hard and soft back books, textiles such as clothing and shoes, shredded paper and white rigid foam. There will be blue donation bins for textiles at full-service centres. The collected textile materials will be sorted and repurposed for later use. All other recycled materials must be sorted and separated into designated containers.

It must be noted that items that are newly added to the list under the enhanced recycling program will be accepted only at the full-service drop-off centres. The residents are reminded not to place them along with residential curbside waste.

Commenting on the enhanced recycling program, Jeff Smithberger, the director of the Solid Waste Management Program noted that it will provide the public with more recycling options. The customers and residents have not been happy with placing these items in the landfills. The expansion of recycling services will help the County meet the long-pending demand of residents, Jeff added.
