The Council expects to resume curbside recycling pickup next month. Dave Sorrell, the Utilities Director noted that the staffing needs to be at 90% for it to restart curbside pickup. The staffing levels currently stands at 71%. It plans to hire seven more people starting next week. There are 18 vacancies altogether. If recruitments happen as planned, the program could see a restart towards end-February this year.

The final RRT report, suggesting recommendations to improve recycling, was recently presented before the City Council. The report recommends closing of the three most abused sites across the city- the sites in Downtown (Tenth and Cherry streets) site, University of Missouri (Bluford Hall) and University of Missouri (East Campus Plant Growth Facility). Further, it also recommends consolidation of the South Providence and State Farm Parkway locations.
