New Bedford Launched Swap Shop at Recycling Center

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Swap Shop, a new program that enables citizens to drop off and pick up reusable items for free, was introduced by the City of New Bedford. The New Bedford Recycling Center, located at 1103 Shawmut Ave., is hosting the opening of the Swap Shop. It will function as a communal area where locals may pick up and donate gently used household goods.

The Swap Shop accepts donations of clean, undamaged secondhand goods from city dwellers. Every item needs to be in good operating order. Books, cookware, bakeware, and dinnerware are all acceptable. Toasters, microwaves, and other plug-in devices are among the household appliances and electronic products that it will not accept.

Residents of New Bedford will have year-round access to the Swap Shop. Proof of residency will be required. A maximum of three things may be donated each day. Once a Recycling Center attendant has given their approval and inspected the materials, they can be dumped off. Any item may be rejected by the City for any reason. The city also mentioned that everything would be free to take.

The Swap Shop is open Monday through Friday from 12 to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., just like the Recycling Center.
