CCRRA Highlights Best Practices in Paper Recycling

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority (CCRRA) has provided detailed guidelines on paper recycling. The County recycles most types of paper, it noted.

The County residents are required to bag or bundle together mixed paper to be placed in curbside recycling bin. This will make it safer and more efficient for the drivers to toss bags into the curbside trucks. Moreover, bagging the paper prevents it from getting wet in rain or snowstorm. Paper and plastic grocery bags are the best available materials that can be used for bagging paper, it noted.

The corrugated cardboard need to be flattened before they are placed in, next or under the curbside recycling bin. The flattened corrugated cardboard boxes should not be placed in larger boxes.

In general, pizza boxes are found contaminated with food residue, which in turn could cause problems at recycling facilities. However, the clean top or bottom of the box could be recycled along with other corrugated cardboard.

For recycling, shredded paper must be placed in a paper or plastic bag. Also, paper with staples could be placed in recycling bins. Paperback books can be recycled along with mixed paper. Hardcover, if any, must be removed before the books are thrown along with mixed paper, for recycling.
