City of San Diego to Host Free Paper Shredding Event


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of San Diego will host a free paper shredding event this week. The event provides residents with an opportunity to safely dispose of their old tax files or other confidential paper works. The shredding event is part of the city’s Zero Waste Plan to divert trash from the landfill in support of achieving previously stated climate goals.

The City announcement said that the annual free Tax File Recycling event is scheduled to start Wednesday, April 19. The event will run through April 25. The residents can drop of their documents at the Miramar Recycling Center located at 5165 Convoy Street. The Center will provide secured bins for people to drop their paperwork. The paper collected in these bins will be shredded and recycled safely.

The event will be open only to the City of San Diego residents. The businesses who wish to recycle their documents are requested to visit www.WasteFreeSD.org to gain access to City’s paper shredding services. Also, there will be a limit of one banker’s box per day.

Earlier this month, the San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU) had organized a free shredding event, which resulted in collection of more than 239,000 pounds of confidential paper documents.
