Preston County Recycler Pushes Forward with New Tire Recycling Facility

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Masontown-based Bionic Tire Recycling, LLC has reportedly submitted application for a certificate of need to open a new waste tire solid waste facility in Preston County. The application was submitted to the Public Service Commission of West Virginia Charleston though attorneys. This follows initial round of discussion on the proposed facility held between the business partners and the members of the Preston County Solid Waste Authority Board in May this year.

The application cites the anticipated processing capacity of the facility to be approximately 4,400 tons used tires per month. The above include deliveries by customers from both within and outside the state. However, it expects the tonnage of waste tires reaching the facility at around 2,200 tons per month.

The company plans to set up the new facility on four acres in the industrial park at Reedsville. The plant would process the tires, after separating them from steel and contaminants, into various useful products. The steel will also be recycled. It intends to have the facility operational by the first quarter of 2023.

The waste tire facility expects to receive tires from around 100 commercial waste tire sources, in addition to private individuals.
