PLASTICS Announced Launch of Polystyrene Recycling Association

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): In an effort to increase polystyrene recycling across the country, the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) has announced the formation of the Polystyrene Recycling Alliance (PSRA). Diverse stakeholders from the expanded polystyrene and polystyrene industries are united under the new coalition.

A thorough roadmap for expanding polystyrene recycling in the nation has been created by PSRA in cooperation with specialists from Resource Recycling Systems (RRS). It suggests collaborating closely with the whole value chain to fund educational and infrastructure projects.

Rough estimates indicate that 32% of Americans currently have access to recycling for at least one polystyrene product. By 2030, recycling availability for a variety of polystyrene products will have significantly improved because to ongoing and planned investments in recycling infrastructure, according to PSRA.

The partnership is regarded as a significant advancement for the sustainability of polystyrene, according to Matt Seaholm, president and CEO of PLASTICS. It seeks to make a wide range of polystyrene materials recyclable for more Americans. According to Seaholm, polystyrene is recyclable by nature.

The alliance's primary goal, according to PSRA chairman Richard Shaw, is to increase strategic investments and collaborations with other stakeholders to increase end-of-life recycling alternatives for all varieties of polystyrene.
