Miami County Solid Waste District to Focus on Waste Diversion


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Miami County Solid Waste District announced continued efforts to divert waste, with the aim of helping to achieve Ohio EPA’s goal of attaining 25% diversion of commercial and municipal solid waste and 50% diversion of industrial manufacturing waste.

The Miami County Transfer and Recycling Facility has already announced plans to expand the range of items recycled, by including organics recycling and textiles recycling. The facility has always been exploring economically better ways to process materials, with the sole aim of landfill diversion. For smooth and successful running of the facility, it urged increased cooperation from people.

Miami County Solid Waste District is in contract with Republic Services for landfilling, disposal and transportation services. The hauling services are being subcontracted. The Transfer and Recycling Facility also houses a recycling drop-off centre. The recyclables collected at the centre are transported to Rumpke’s Cincinnati, Ohio material recovery facility (MRF).

The Miami County Solid Waste District plans to boost community outreach programs in order to educate residents on proper recycling habits.
