City of Keokuk to Host Annual Community Recycling Event


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Keokuk will host a Community Recycling Event at First Christian Church, 3476 Main Street in Keokuk on Tuesday, Sept. 26th, 2023 from 7 AM to Noon. The annual event will provide citizens to drop off their unwanted computers, appliances and hazardous wastes. The participants are required to enter on the Carbide Lane Side of the FCC parking lot.

The event is being held in co-operation with the Keokuk Area Chamber of Commerce and the Great River Regional Waste Authority. The document shredding services will be provided by North Cedar Recycling.

The attendees can drop off one corded item, either an electronic considered to be used for entertainment or an appliance, for free. There will be reasonable fee charged for additional corded items. The document destruction services will be provided free for personal paperwork, whereas business will be charged $0.10 per pound.

The list of acceptable electronic waste include televisions, computers, printers, etc. The event will accept hazardous household waste such as residential-use fertilizers, insecticides, household and auto cleaning products, car batteries, motor oil, oil-based paints, propane tanks, etc. Also accepted are appliances like microwaves, hot water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, dishwashers, furnaces, dehumidifiers, washers and dryers, etc.
