Union County to Host Free Paper Shredding Events

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Union County has announced schedule for paper shredding events in 2023, where residents could safely destroy their personal and sensitive documents for free.

The first two events of the year will be held on March 25, Saturday and March 26, Sunday from 9AM to 1 PM at the Union County Vocational-Technical Schools campus, located at 1776 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains. However, the event may finish before the scheduled time, in the event of shredding trucks reaching their capacity beforehand.

The events will be open to any Union County resident, regardless of their home town. They will be contact-free and drive-up only. The residents are requested to remain in their cars, while the event staff unloads the material, which will be then shredded on site by mobile paper shredding truck.

The free shredding events are meant for shredding personal, sensitive documents alone. Other items such as magazines, junk mail and other waste paper can be recycled with municipal recycling program. The event will not accept pre-shredded, damp, or wet paper. Also, they must ensure that bindings, large plastic or metal clips, and other paraphernalia are removed before taking them to the event.

The Union County schedules such paper shredding events every year between March and November.
