Ridwell Targets Hard-to-Recycle Items Across LA

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Ridwell- a company that promotes recycling and reusing of materials, has been officially nominated to offer its operations across LA neighborhoods. It will promote collection of hard-to-recycle items from residents, thus helping the city cuts its environmental footprint.

The materials collected by Ridwell include plastic film, produce bags, envelopes, chips, candy, frozen food bags, batteries, lightbulbs, and clothing, which are not accepted by traditional collectors. The collected items are delivered to be reused and recycled, in partnership with various recycling businesses and organizations.

Ridwell noted that the discarded plastics by residents averages around 378,082 pounds per day on normal days, which is set to increase during the holiday season. The company urged residents to reduce packaging waste and use alternatives to live Christmas trees.

The services are offered at a starting monthly fee of $14. The members will be provided with bins and cotton bags, for placing items by category. The materials will be picked up once in two weeks and transported to the company’s warehouse, where they are sorted and sent to specialized recycling facilities.

It must be noted that the company had earlier launched the eco-friendly recycling program in Santa Monica households.
