South Plainfield Announced Changes to Summer Recycling Routine

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster):  South Plainfield homeowners' summer recycling routine will alter in August when a new curbside recycling program is introduced. The introduction of the new program is consistent with the borough's continuous efforts to enhance environmental sustainability and trash management.

Therefore, by July 25, 2025, a 95-gallon wheeled recycling cart with a lid will be given to every household. An automatic side-loading system will be used to service the new carts, ensuring less manual effort and more efficient curbside collection.

A distinct serial number will be given to every recycling cart and connected to the residential address. The cart and explicit curbside placement instructions will be provided by the city. Paper, cardboard, cans, and other types of plastic are among the acceptable materials. Styrofoam, food-contaminated garbage, and plastic bags will not be accepted in the meantime.

The timetable for collecting won't alter. Biweekly pickups will take place on Thursdays and Fridays as normal. On August 7 and 8, 2025, the first automated collection is planned to start.

The new initiative intends to assist South Plainfield transition to a cleaner, greener future by increasing recycling efficiency and lowering pollution.
