The successful first run will allow the company to test the core technology concepts across various operating conditions. At full capacity, the facility will have an annual production capacity of 107 million pounds of UPR resin.
The technology by PureCycle uses approximately 80% less energy when compared with the production process for virgin PP resin. In addition, it releases almost 35% fewer carbon emissions.
Dustin Olson, CEO, PureCycle Technologies noted that it is a momentous achievement for all the stakeholders of the project. The production of commercial scale pellets is another important step in the company’s mission to help solve the plastic waste crisis. The process will now be optimized in order to demonstrate the path-breaking technology across a variety of operating conditions and feedstocks, Olson added.
