SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Staunton announced opening of its new permanent recycling centre at Public Works Compound at 1911 Craigmont Road. The facility will open on 3rd July, 2023. Subsequently, the pilot recycling centre at Gypsy Hill Park will close doors on 30 June, 2023 1PM.
The city news release noted that the new recycling centre offers safe and convenient space for residents who wish to recycle materials. It aims to address the issues faced by the pilot recycling centre over its two years of operation. The centre, being solely dedicated to recycling, will eliminate unexpected closures and disruptions. Furthermore, it will eliminate the hassles of vandalism and vehicle traffic.
City Manager Leslie Beauregard said that the permanent recycling centre provides a more predictable, reliable, safe and environmentally sound situation for the facility operations and users. It will position the city for more progressive, forward-looking recycling operations, he added.
The new recycling centre will have extended working hours on Thursdays and Saturdays. As per schedule, it will be open from 9AM to 3PM on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays and from 9AM to 7PM on Thursdays and Saturdays.
