Portage County to Host Twin E-Waste Recycling Events


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Portage County announced schedule of two electronics recycling events.

The first of the two events is scheduled to be held in Ben Franklin Jr. High, 2000 Polk St., Stevens Point on 20th May 8 AM to Noon. The event, held in partnership with Express Recycling, will be operated by volunteer school staff, parents, and students. The proceeds from the event will go towards the school’s food pantry, lunch composting program, and a future outdoor classroom.

City of Minot to Implement New Recycling Program

The second event will be held on 1st June, 3PM to 6PM at Amherst Town Hall, 4023 County Q, town of Amherst. The drive-thru event will be operated by the Portage Co. Solid Waste Department. There will be a fee of $20 per vehicle with up to 20 items each. The event is restricted only to Portage County residents.

Residents are required to enter the parking/event area off Hwy Q from the south and exit to the north and follow the signs. The vehicle will be unloaded by department workers. Cash/cheque will be accepted. No credit/debit card will be accepted.

The event will not accept items such as ballasts, batteries, bulbs/lamps, capacitors, gas cylinders, ink and toner cartridges, holiday lights, liquids, medical and radioactive wastes, medical and lab equipment, refrigerant-containing appliances, smoke detectors, vape pens, white goods.
