Palm Coast to Fine Recycling Contractor for Collecting Recycle Bins

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Palm Coast plans to impose fine on recycling contractor Waste Pro for collecting recycling bins from customers as the company’s contract with the city comes to an end.

According to sources, the company will be fined up to $125 per collected bin. This will end up in several thousands of dollars as the company is believed to have removed thousands of bins. The city will have the total count of removed bins as the contract ends. Consequently, he staff will meet to decide upon the rate of fine to be imposed on the recycling contractor, said Neysa Borkert, City Attorney.

The city officials noted that the bins belong to the residents. It is a violation of not only the city code but also a section of the city’s contract with Waste Pro. The code violation may lead to fine of $50 per bin, whereas the contract violation could result in administrative charges of $125 per bin removed.

Meantime, some city officials noted that the contract between the city and Waste Pro does not clearly state what to do with the bins upon termination of the contract.

FCC Environmental Services is set to replace Waste Pro as the trash and recycling services provider at the City of Palm Coast with effect from 1st June, 2023. The cost of the services will be $32.32 per month per household, which is higher when compared with the current rate of $29.97 per month.
