Labor Day: TCAT limited service, recycling, trash, city offices closed

What would’ve been the 37th annual Tompkins County Workers Center Labor Day Picnic won’t happen in person, but there’s a virtual program planned as a Facebook Live event for Monday afternoon. TCAT is operating a reduced schedule, municipal offices will be closed, and recycling and trash pickups will be delayed.

All City of Ithaca facilities are closed, and parking is free. (Ithaca is returning its parking rates to full price starting Tuesday.)

Tompkins County’s Recycling & Solid Waste Center will be closed on Monday, September 7, and there will be no curbside recycling pickup on Monday. Recycling pickups will be delayed one day for the rest of the week, so Monday pickups are Tuesday, Tuesday pickups are Wednesday, and so on. City of Ithaca garbage pickup is also delayed one day. Check with your private trash hauler to see if they are picking up on Monday.

The Cayuga Health sampling site at the Ithaca Mall is closed on Monday. COVID-19 testing resumes on Tuesday, and the sampling site is moving to the back parking lot near Regal Cinema starting Tuesday.

GreenStar Food Co-Op says its west end and Collegetown stores will be open 8am-8pm on Monday.

TCAT says its buses on Monday will operate on a Sunday schedule. Customer service representatives won’t be available.
