ERI Partners to Offer Electronic Recycling Industry Careers to People with Disabilities


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): ERI- the nation’s leading electronic waste recycler and ITAD service provider will offer electronics recycling industry careers to people with varied disabilities. For this, ERI has entered into a unique partnership with Opportunity Enterprises (OE) - a Valparaiso, IN-headquartered non-profit organization.

The partnership between ERI and OE will focus on providing training to job-seekers with varied abilities to work in the electronics recycling industry. The 10-12 week training program is being held at a dedicated training space in ERI’s Plainfield, Indiana facility. The graduates of the program will be provided opportunity to work for ERI.

Commenting on the new collaboration, John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO, ERI, noted that the project aligns perfectly with its commitment to sustainability and its ongoing efforts to develop a diverse and inclusive workforce. It will provide career opportunities for differently abled persons in sustainable industry, while keeping toxic electronics out of landfills by recycling them in a safe manner, he added.

Neil Samahon, OE’s President and CEO applauded ERI for their innovative approach to expand their workforce. Hiring people with disability is not just a philanthropic effort, but a way to enhance workforce performance, as studies have indicated that people of varied abilities outperform their peers in terms of productivity.
