Compost Council of Canada Launched Organics Recycling Initiative

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Compost Council of Canada (CCC) announced launch of a new initiative named ‘Advancing Organics Recycling Throughout Canada’. The new initiative aims to boost organics recycling programs in Canadian municipalities and other industrial sectors.

As part of the initiative, CCC will organize education and awareness drives to propagate the essential role played by soil and compost in mitigating climate change. It urged organizations and individuals to make use of the knowledge that CCC possess in organic recycling and implement specific programmes that adapt to each situation.

Susan Antler, executive director at the Compost Council of Canada noted that soils and compost bins are important allies in the battle against climate change. The organics recycling programmes not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also ensures food security and water quality and increased agricultural productivity, she added.

The CCC will offer resources, training, and technical support to municipalities and organizations to help them implement organics recycling programs. The program is being implemented with financial aid from the federal Department of Environment and Climate Change under the Government of Canada.
