City of Tulsa Announced Launch of New Electronics Recycling Service

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Tulsa announced launch of new e-waste recycling service. Accordingly, all of the city’s park community centers will accept small electronics for recycling.

Joshua Noel, community involvement coordinator of the city noted that majority of small electronics contain batteries or wires which can contaminate the recycling stream. Putting them in recycling stream implies that they end in in landfills in most of the cases. They need to be sorted and processed in a responsible manner. The new e-waste recycling services launched by the city aims to promote responsible recycling of electronic waste which contains toxic materials harmful for the humans and environment, he said.

The Tulsa park community centers will have buckets and bins, where residents could drop off their old electronics, including old landline phones, old cell phones, speakers, and printers among others. Meantime, items that are not accepted include televisions, computer monitors, towers, and ink cartridges.

The discarded e-waste has been identified as one of the main reasons behind the high contamination rate in the city of Tulsa. The new e-waste recycling services are expected to reduce the city’s contamination rate.
