SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Wright County Recycling Facility officials notified residents of some changes in policy, which will go into effect on 1st July, 2023. Certain liability concerns have forced them to implement these changes.
According to officials, the recycling facility will no longer provide assistance to residents using its equipment in connection with the loading of compost and wood chips. Instead, residents are requested to bring their own shovels or rakes, using which they can gather wood chips or compost.
Another change comes in the drop-off of cooking oil products. Hereafter, prior appointments need to be taken for drop off of such materials. Additionally, the facility will now accept cooking oil and grease. However, residents are required to ensure that there are limited food solids present in them.
The Wright County Compost and Recycling Facility will be available for public drop-off of household hazardous waste, electronics, appliances, used tires, recyclables, and scrap metal. Appointments are required for hazardous materials. Customers are required to unload themselves and are advised to bring help if needed. All fluids must be in containers of 5 gallons or less. Oil drums, if left with the facility, is still acceptable.
The facility will no longer accept waste from contractors or businesses. Meantime, yard waste and brush from homeowners will be accepted.
