Polk County Appointed New Waste & Recycling Director

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Polk County Commission gave final approval for the appointment of Dale Henderson as the new director of waste and recycling for the county. He will take charge on 19th June, 2023.

County manager Bill Beasley noted that Henderson’s career spans over four decades in the waste collection and disposal industry. He has held various top positions in the industry, serving both private as well as public sectors. Henderson’s vast experience will help Polk County’s Waste & Recycling Division to move forward in a positive direction, Beasley added.

Henderson will replace Ana Wood-Rogers, who had worked for 25 years in Polk County and left for a position in Jacksonville in April. Since then, Susan Peltz has been serving as the interim director of waste and recycling.

Henderson is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. He started his career with Waste Management in 1982 and worked there for 22 years, where he held various top positions. Currently, he works as the manager of the Broward County landfill, overseeing operations and development of waste and recycling facilities. Also, he has served on various state-level waste management advisory and task force panels.
