The Catskill Recycling Center to Receive Funding for Equipment Upgrades

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Green County Highway and Solid Waste Departments, in its meeting held on Monday, approved funding to the Catskill Recycling Center in support of their equipment upgrade plan. The Center plans to purchase two tilting utility trailers and a new excavator. The meeting also approved additional funding to settle the costs of the new recycling center.

The Center noted that its backhoe is too small to handle rising volumes of recyclables, as a result of which it is borrowing the Highway Department’s excavator. The planned purchase of the Kobelco model of excavator will cost the county around $154,619. The cost of two Cam utility trailers is estimated at $22,390. The additional funds sanctioned to the facility amounts to $60,955.

The County expects to receive the equipment with a period of two weeks from the date of purchase order.

While providing an update on the recycling center, Scott Templeton, Greene County Superintendent of Highways and Solid Waste noted that the recycling operations were successful and that the facility has been extremely busy, primarily due to the expensive costs of commercial driveway pickup. The center now requires a full-time worker with an excavator to fully function, he added.
