SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Powell has resumed glass recycling after a long hiatus. The restart follows purchase of a new glass pulveriser machine at the Powell Valley Recycling Center, thanks to a $120,000 fundraising campaign launched by Sue Woods and three other community members — Denise Kelsay, Jayson Nicholson and Luke Robertson.
An open house session is being scheduled to be held at the recycling center, located at 946 Road 10, to celebrate the newly installed machine, according to non-profit Powell Valley Recycling and “Crush It” group. The celebrations will begin at 4:30 p.m, followed by a demonstration of the pulveriser at 5:15 p.m.

The glass materials that are collected are shipped out by the two other recycling facilities in the state of Wyoming that take glass, which are located in Jackson and Sheridan. This facility, however, transforms the material into items that may be used.
Glass objects can be ground into sand and a type of pea gravel that can be utilized locally for a range of landscaping tasks with Andela Products' new pulverizer. The plant is expected to save a significant amount of money by not having to ship out the material. Labels and other garbage will be diverted to a different pile by the machine.
