Rockford Super Shred & Recycling Day Set for Oct. 3
The drive-through collection at Guilford High School will accept paper for secure shredding along with unwanted medications, eyeglasses, retired American flags, cellphones and children's diapers.
MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): Residents of Rockford, Illinois, will have an opportunity to dispose of unwanted household materials during a community recycling and shredding event scheduled for October 3, 2026.
The Super Shred & Recycling Day, jointly hosted by Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful and State Representative Dave Vella, is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the east parking lot of Guilford High School, 5620 Spring Creek Road.
Paper, Medications and Reusable Items Accepted
The collection program will accept paper for secure shredding, unused or unwanted medication, eyeglasses and retired American flags. Residents may also bring old cellphones and children's diapers for donation or reuse.
On-site paper shredding will continue until available capacity is reached. Additional paper collected after that point will be transported for off-site shredding.
Community Organizations Support Collection
The event is being supported by several organizations, including CPM, Two Men and a Truck, UIC Retzky College of Pharmacy, Lions Clubs International, Boy Scouts and local law enforcement.
Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful is also inviting volunteers to help unload vehicles and sort collected materials. Interested individuals can register through the organization's official website.
