SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Lewis County residents and businesses will have a free option to dispose of unwanted paint through a community recycling event scheduled for Saturday, September 19.
The event, organized in partnership with GreenSheen Paint, will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Blue Pavilion parking lot at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds, 1909 S. Gold St. GreenSheen will collect eligible materials and process them into recycled paint products.
Participants are encouraged to pre-register online, although registration is not mandatory. The service is available to both households and local businesses.
Accepted materials include interior and exterior house paint, latex and oil-based coatings, primers, sealers, deck stains, floor coatings, varnishes, shellacs and certain waterproofing products. Rust-preventative paints, metal coatings and paint used on lawns or sports fields will also be accepted.
Containers must hold no more than five gallons and retain their original manufacturer labels.
Leaking or open containers, aerosol paint, solvents, paint thinners, adhesives or two-part resins will not be accepted. Automotive and marine paints, roofing products, road-marking coatings, cement-based materials and small craft paints are also excluded.
The collection will operate as a drive-through service, and participants must remain inside their vehicles while staff handle the materials.
