MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): The City of Tukwila, Washington, and GreenSheen Paint will host a free paint recycling event on October 10, 2026, giving community members an opportunity to drop off eligible unwanted household and architectural paint.

The collection will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tukwila Community Center, 12424 42nd Avenue South, Tukwila, WA 98168.

There is no stated overall limit on the amount of eligible paint participants may bring, although individual containers must hold no more than five gallons. Paint does not need to be dried before drop-off.

Latex, Oil-Based Paint and Other Architectural Coatings Accepted

Accepted products include interior and exterior latex, oil-based and enamel house paints; deck stains and floor coatings; primers, sealers and undercoaters; stains, varnishes, shellacs and single-part lacquers; and eligible waterproofing products.

Rust-preventive paints and metal coatings are also accepted, along with eligible paint used for lawns and sports fields.

All products must remain in their original containers, which must be five gallons or smaller and have readable labels.

Aerosols, Solvents and Automotive Paint Will Not Be Accepted

The event will not accept spray paints or other aerosol products, paint thinners, mineral spirits, solvents, deck cleaners, glues, caulking, adhesives, epoxies or two-part resins.

Automotive and marine coatings are excluded, along with tar, asphalt and other roofing products; stucco, grout, plaster, joint compound and other cement-based materials; road-marking paint; heavy industrial coatings; and small bottles of craft or art paint.

Registration Available for Preferred Drop-Off Times

Organizers are encouraging participants to register online in advance to select a preferred drop-off time from available slots. The City of Tukwila lists the event registration portal at circular.eco/tukwila.

The event will operate as a drive-through collection. Attendees should remain inside their vehicles while staff direct them to the appropriate drop-off lanes and unload eligible paint.
