MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): Reno residents will have an opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste, electronics and other specified hard-to-handle materials during a special citywide collection on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Reno High School, 395 Booth Street, Reno, Nevada 89509, with access from Foster Drive. Collection will continue until the available bins reach capacity.

The City of Reno is advising residents to arrive early because no additional material will be accepted once the collection containers are full.

Hazardous Waste and Electronics Accepted

Accepted household hazardous waste includes paints, pesticides, fluorescent lights, large batteries and cleaning chemicals.

The electronics collection will accept televisions of any size, microwaves, computers, cell phones and other household electronic appliances.

Households may bring no more than half of a standard pickup-truck bed of hazardous and electronic waste.

Appliances and Tires Have Separate Limits

The September 26 event will also accept one large appliance per household. Examples listed by the city include refrigerators and washers or dryers.

Residents may also bring up to seven tires per household.

The collection is different from Reno's other fall community cleanup events. No Waste Management roll-off containers will be available on September 26, meaning residents should not bring ordinary bulky household waste expecting access to the city's usual cleanup dumpsters.

September Event Is Part of Reno's Fall Cleanup Program

The hazardous waste and electronics collection forms part of Reno's 2026 Biggest Little Fall Refresh program, which includes separate neighborhood cleanup events across the city's wards during September, October and November.

Those other fall events focus on residential bulky waste and do not accept household hazardous waste or electronics. Residents seeking to discard those materials should instead use the dedicated September 26 collection or another appropriate disposal service.

Because the September 26 event will close once collection capacity is reached, residents planning to participate should check the City of Reno's current event information before traveling to the site.
