SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Hamilton Township residents will have the opportunity to securely dispose of sensitive documents during a free community paper shredding event hosted by the Hamilton Township Police Division on Saturday, September 26.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., or until the shredding truck reaches full capacity, at police headquarters located at 1270 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road. It will be held rain or shine.

The shredding service is limited to Hamilton Township residents only, no businesses or commercial entities will be permitted. Proof of residency is required and may include a valid driver’s license, tax bill, or utility bill.

Participants may bring up to 100 pounds of paper materials, including file folders. Staples and rubber bands do not need to be removed, but binder clips, cardboard, and other non-paper materials are not allowed.

Prohibited items include CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, plastic cases, computer hardware, metal, trash, food, and x-rays.

The shredding will be handled by Cintas, a company certified by the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID AAA).
