Warren County Launches Mobile Aluminum Recycling

Warren County Adds Mobile Aluminum Recycling at Four Kentucky Parks

A new mobile recycling trailer will expand aluminum collection across Warren County parks, with recycling proceeds supporting youth sports scholarships.

MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): Warren County Parks and Recreation in Kentucky has launched a mobile aluminum recycling program in partnership with AKFA Aluminum Solutions and the Metals Innovation Initiative.

The initiative introduces a recycling trailer that will rotate among four county parks, collecting empty beverage cans and other eligible aluminum materials.

The trailer was funded through an approximately $11,000 Kentucky Pride grant and matching contributions from AKFA, an Uzbekistan-based manufacturer of aluminum and other building products.

The mobile trailer will follow a monthly rotation:

  • Week 1: Phil Moore Park
  • Week 2: Michael O. Buchanan Park
  • Week 3: Ephram White Park
  • Week 4: G.H. Freeman Park

Recycling proceeds will support the Friends of Warren County Parks and Recreation scholarship program, helping children participate in recreational sports.

"With this brand new trailer, through the support of AKFA, we're going to be offering aluminum recycling on a weekly basis throughout our regional park system," said Parks and Recreation Director Chris Kummer.

AKFA Partnership Supports Local Aluminum Recovery

AKFA broke ground earlier in 2026 on its first U.S. manufacturing facility at Kentucky Transpark in Bowling Green. The company uses recycled aluminum in its manufacturing operations.

The new collection program links local aluminum recovery with regional manufacturing activity while expanding convenient recycling access for residents.

RecyclingMonster Industry Edge

Connecting Collection and Manufacturing: The AKFA partnership combines community recycling access with regional aluminum manufacturing. Directing recycling proceeds to youth sports also gives residents a tangible local incentive to participate, although collection volumes and material recovery results have yet to be reported.
