Queens Creek Nominated as Recycling Municipality of the Year


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Town of Queen Creek in the state of Arizona was named the Recycling Municipality of the Year. The town received the 2023 Recycling Excellence award from the Arizona Recycling Coalition.

The town’s recycling program has contributed significantly to its efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle. The rates of the residential trash and recycling program, which started in 2010, have remained unchanged for the past ten years at $16.22 per account.

The trash and recycling services offer several benefits to its customers. For instance, it provides additional blue recycling carts without hike in monthly service charges and a free voucher to residents for disposing of household hazardous waste. Also, it allows discounted rate of $10 for customers to enable them to drop off up to 1,000 pounds of materials to the Waste Connections Transfer Station in Apache Junction.

The town also provides recycling opportunities to residents without trash and recycling services. All residents could dispose of extra recyclable materials for free at the QC Recycle Center. The Cooking Oil Recycling Program allows residents to safely dispose of used cooking oil and grease at two locations. They could also participate in the town's QC Recycles events, which are held four times a year.
