Proper Sorting of Recyclables Offers Cash Prize to Victorville Residents

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Victorville city has announced the launch of its "The Right Stuff Curbside Recycling Contest", which is currently open to the residents of the city on curbside cart service. By entering the contest, residents stand a chance to win $100 for properly sorting their recyclables.

According to city officials, the contest will run through September 30. Once in every two weeks, a contest participant will be selected randomly from all submissions. All three carts- the green organics, blue recycle, and black trash cart will then be inspected. The contestant will be declared winner and awarded $100 in cash prize if the contents inside all the three containers are found sorted correctly.

The winners will be announced every other week, starting from April 15th through the middle of September.

The contest run by the City of Victorville, in partnership with Victorville Disposal, is aimed at encouraging and promoting responsible sorting of organics and recycling. When organics and recyclables are separated from trash, everybody wins, said Victorville Environmental Programs Manager Dana Armstrong.

The City appreciated residents who do a great job by separating their three waste streams and for not commingling them.
