CARBIOS Celebrated Groundbreaking of PET Recycling Plant


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): CARBIOS celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the world's first PET biorecycling plant in Longlaville, in the Grand-Est region of France. The company’s first commercial plant is expected to play a major role in the fight against plastic pollution. The ceremony was attended by representatives from government authorities, top company executives and other industry partners.

The plant will have a processing capacity of up to 50,000 tons of prepared PET waste per year, when operated at full capacity. It will create as many as 150 direct and indirect jobs in the region. The plant is strategically located near the borders with several countries, including Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg, having easy access to nearly waste supplies. The construction works on the plant are on schedule. CARBIOS expects to commence delivery to customers in 2026.

The plant will make use of CARBIOS’ enzymatic biorecycling technology to process PET waste.

Emmanuel Lodent, CEO, CARBIOS stated that the groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of its industrial and commercial roll-out to transform the company into a world leader in plastic recycling in the forthcoming years.

Meantime, Emmanuel Macron, President of France noted that the groundbreaking of the plant illustrates France’s commitment to ecological transition.
