Preston City Council Partners with Alupro to Promote Aluminum Recycling

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Preston City Council announced that it has partnered with the Aluminum Packaging Recycling Organization (Alupro) to launch a new programme, aimed at promoting aluminum recycling.

The ‘Clean Me’ campaign, run by Alupro, was launched on 10th October, 2022 and will run for a period of six weeks. It encourages City residents to recycle clean foil trays, wrapping foil, aerosols, drink cans and tins, thus helping households across the City to boost recyclable metal packaging. As part of the campaign, creative advertisements have been placed on billboards, buses and bus shelters across the city.

Councillor Carol Henshaw noted that the new campaign in partnership with Alupro will encourage thousands of residents to have a serious thinking on the way they dispose of aluminum package. It will explore ways to encourage households to recycle as much waste as possible, thus benefiting the environment, Henshaw added.

Meanwhile, Tom Giddings, Executive Director at Alupro stated that the campaign will help in educating the public about best practice recycling. The risk caused by contamination of recycling loads by food residue could be minimized by properly rinsing aluminum cans, trays and tins, he said.
