SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): According to media reports, a new recycling center is set to open in Chico soon. The proposed center is expected to provide an additional option for residents to recycle their cans and bottles.
The S&L Recycling Center is scheduled to open along Highway 32 near East Avenue by Friday, 1st of August, 2025. This will be the third location for the business. The company’s first location was opened in Los Molinos in 2022. Earlier this month, it had added another location in Red Bluff.

Skip Barker, owner of S&L Recycling noted that there was an urgent need for recycling services in Chico area, after the closure of the previous facility in 2021. The new facility will accept plastic, glass, and aluminum with the California refund symbol, he added.
The recycling center will pay customers for their recyclables, the rates of which will vary depending on the type of material. Aluminum will be paid at $1.75 per pound, whereas plastics will be paid at $1.47 per pound. The payment for glass is fixed at 10 cents per pound. In addition, the facility offers sorting options as well, where payment will be made on per container basis.
The grand opening of the facility is scheduled for August 1. The center will operate seven days a week 9.30 am to 5 pm. On Sundays, it will be open only from 11 am to 4 pm.
