City of Lansing Announced Opening of New Recycling Drop-Off Center


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Lansing Public Service Department announced the opening of a brand new recycling drop-off center. The center is located at 601 E. South Street, Lansing, MI 48910. It is open to all community members. The facility will be open daily from dawn to dusk.

The center will accept recyclable materials free of charge. All materials currently accepted through Lansing’s curbside recycling program will be accepted. Additionally, it will accept polystyrene. There will be designated bins for cardboard, boxboard, paper, plastic, metal, glass and foam polystyrene. There will be a food scraps drop-off bin as well.

Mayor Andy Schor commented on the new development, saying that the recycling drop-off center's opening is a positive step towards creating a more sustainable community in Lansing. According to Schor, the City plans to continue growing its environmental initiatives in the future.

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) provided funds for the project.

The increased recycling in Lansing will boost the local economy and support hundreds of employment. Additionally, the initiatives are meant to help Michigan become a cleaner and more resilient state in the future.
