SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Meridian Waste has expanded its residential waste collection footprint in south-central Virginia through the acquisition of selected assets of Meherrin-based waste services provider Lafferty Disposal. The transaction was completed on October 1, 2026.
This will result in addition of collection routes across Prince Edward and Nottoway counties and surrounding communities, including Farmville, Blackstone, Crewe, Burkeville, Green Bay, Rice, Prospect and Pamplin. The acquired operations will be incorporated into Meridian Waste’s Lunenburg Hauling business.

In addition to offering greater route density around its existing operations, the transaction will help Meridian Waste to connect the newly acquired waste volumes with the company’s nearby Lunenburg Landfill. This will reduce the company’s dependence on outside disposal facilities.
The Lafferty acquisition marks Meridian Waste’s 40th deal since the company became private in 2018. The latest expansion reflects Meridian Waste’s broader strategy of pursuing strategic acquisitions that strengthen established markets while improving the efficiency of its collection and disposal network.
Commenting on the development, CEO Walter “Wally” Hall noted that the transaction is a strategic fit that builds on existing infrastructure, equipment and personnel.
