Meridian Township Green Team to Host Electronics Recycling Event


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Meridian Township Green Team announced that it will host an electronics recycling and coat drive. The event is scheduled to be held at Chippewa Middle School on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will accept new and gently used coats from residents in addition to old electronic devices.

The accepted items include televisions, monitors, laptops, printers & scanners, fax machines, keyboards, computer mice, VCRs, DVRs, DVD players, hard drives, satellite boxes, tablets & E-readers, mobile phones, MP3 players, video game consoles, vacuum cleaners, coffee makers, toasters, microwaves, and new and gently used coats.

TVs and monitors will be accepted against a donation of $20 per unit, which must be paid as cash or check to Meridian Township. Consumers Energy customers can drop off their old refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers for recycling at the event after fixing appointment. They will receive a rebate of $15-$50 per appliance.

The non-accepted items include batteries, smoke detectors, lighting, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and other large household appliances. However, air conditioners and dehumidifiers will be accepted from Consumers Energy customers.

Those who are interested to volunteer the event can sign up to select shift of their convenience, said the Meridian Township Green Team.
