According to Dave Massey, General Manager, Absolute Waste, the partnership is expected to deliver immense benefits to the community. There is an ever-rising demand for recycling services. The company is in talks with other communities about handling their recyclables, Massey noted.

Aaron Burnett, Mason City administrator assured that there will be no change in recycling services for customers. The new contractor will accept nearly all materials as before, with the addition of new items such as glass and aerosol cans. The city is currently working on updating its educational materials on recycling for residents, which it plans to post at the earliest. Flyers and inserts to educate the residents will be included along with the monthly water bill, Burnett added.
