Andrea Krava, Recycling Director, Licking County noted that the average yearly collection has been in the range of 5-5.5 million pounds over the couple of years. The recycling contamination rates too have been significantly low at around 5% during the past few years. The robust collection and low contamination rates indicate that Licking County residents are recycling properly, Krava added.

Starting this fall, Licking County had begun accepting paper cups and sleeves, aluminum cups, and plastic cups with plastic lids in the public drop off program. However, certain items such as straws, loose lids, and "party" cups are still not accepted for recycling.

The County accepts cardboard boxes, paper, cartons, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, jugs, tubs, and cups, metal cans and metal cups in bins. In order to save space, the County urged its residents to break down and flatten them before put into the bins. Also, it is illegal to dump bulk items inside or outside the bins.

The County’s recycling is handled by Rumpke of Ohio, Inc. The County recycling program is funded by Coshocton Fairfield Licking Perry Solid Waste District and the Licking County Board of Commissioners.
