Community Event to Offer Free Recycling of Old Electronics

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The residential households, businesses, nonprofits, churches, governments and schools living and doing business in Pulaski County will be offered a free community electronics recycling drop-off event.

The two-day event will be held in the Simmons Bank Arena parking lot on 2nd and 3rd, April 2024 from 7 AM to 2 PM.

The event will accept a wide range of electronic items including laptops, printers, VCRs/DVD players, televisions, microwaves, gaming systems, coffee makers, cell phones, stereos, hard drives, surge protectors and fax machines. All the electronics collected during the event will be responsibly treated. The data in hard drives will be securely destroyed using electronics shredder.

The Regional Recycling & Waste Reduction District reminded residents that electronic waste should never be put in recycling cart or trash can. Many of these electronic items contain hazardous wastes such as lead and mercury, which are harmful to human health and the environment.

Craig Douglass, executive director of the Regional Recycling & Waste Reduction District stated that though they are called e-waste, they are not waste at all. The equipment as a whole and its component parts can be recycled and remarketed to be used in manufacture of new products, he added.
