City of Salina to Host Electronic Waste Recycling Event

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Salina has joined hands with TechRemove LLC to host an electronic waste collection and recycling event.

The event is scheduled to be held at the Berkley Family Recreational Area, 841 Markley Road, on May 6, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All residents of the City could bring their unwanted electronic gadgets, tools and appliances to the event for recycling. Most items will be recycled for free, but some will incur a fee. The event will accept almost anything with a chord, said the City in a release.

The participants are requested to enter from Markley Road at the water tower and follow the traffic cones and signs. They just need to stay in their vehicles, while the staff members will reach the vehicle to collect the items.

The accepted items include computers, televisions, cameras, gaming systems, and microwaves. There will be a charge of $45 for projection TVs, $30 for CRT TVs, $20 for LCD, LED or plasma TVs, $10 for Freon-containing devices and $5 for CRT monitors. Also, the event will not accept items such as smoke detectors, light bulbs and CDs.

The City noted that the collected materials will be recycled to recover valuable materials including aluminum, copper, gold, silver. Furthermore, it will prevent harmful materials like lead and mercury from ending up in landfills.
