SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Valdosta and Lowndes County have joined hands to host spring electronics recycling event on Saturday, April 8th. The event will be open to residents of the city and county and will be jointly hosted by the City of Valdosta and Lowndes County Public Works Departments.

According to statement issued by city and county representatives, the free Spring recycling event will be held from 8AM to 12 Noon. The drop-off location will be Valdosta Public Works, 1017 Myrtle St. The event is one of several events organized by the city and county to provide its residents with opportunities to discard their used electronics in a safe and sustainable manner, thus prevent them from ending up in landfills, city/county officials noted.

The accepted items include CB radios, scanners, speakers, camcorders, cameras, televisions, cell phones, disk & floppy drives, video cassette recorders (VCRs), laptops, test equipment, modems, circuit boards, typewriters and cables. However, the event will not accept items such as vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, washers, dryers, gas-powered equipment, non-electronic equipment and other non-recyclable items.

The event is being held to uphold the commitment of the Public Works Department to keep the community clean.
