SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granted permission to Rumpke Waste Inc. to begin construction of the proposed waste transfer station in Clark County. The municipal solid waste transfer facility will be located at 3580 S. Dayton-Lakeview Road in New Carlisle. Rumpke expects the facility to be up and running in Spring 2026.
In the meantime, neighbours expressed concerns over flooding of materials and chances of hazardous materials leaking into nearby areas.

However, Ohio EPA clarified that operations of such transfer stations are strictly regulated by state. It observed that Rumpke’s plan exceeds the minimum distances to homes and surface water. Furthermore, the waste at the facility will be handled in an enclosed building, thereby preventing any leakage. Also, the EPA noted that waste water from the station will be handled through the sanitary sewer to the Clark County Southwest Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Prior to opening of the facility, the company will need to obtain an annual operating license from the Clark County Combined Health District.
The final permit can be appealed to the Ohio Environmental Review Appeals Commission (ERAC) within 30 days from the date of issuance of the permit.
