Camden Celebrated Earth Day with Cleanup Events and Tree Plantings

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Camden, New Jersey celebrated Earth Day event this Saturday by organizing a variety of programs including neighbourhood cleanup and tree plantings. The event was held at Esperanza Garden and North 6th and Grant streets in North Camden. It honoured North Camden residents who have invested continuously towards creating stability in the region.

The tools needed for the cleanup event were donated by Lowe’s. Also, the Jaws Youth Foundation (JYF) donated money to help Camden Lutheran Housing Inc. (CLHI) towards care and maintenance of the community garden. The Foundation believes in community gardens and having nutritious food for communities, said Trish Cuadrado, Executive Director, JYF.

The event also handed out information about recycling and other environmentally friendly activities.

The annual tree planting event at Whitman Park along the Camden-Pennsauken Township line saw participation by more than 100 people. The New Jersey Tree Foundation, as usual, bought the trees and donated them free to the community.

In addition, a group of students from the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) planted dozens of trees as part of the celebrations.
