Brightmark to Build Recycled Plastics Manufacturing Facility Near Atlanta

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Leading circular solutions company Brightmark LLC announced investment of around $1 billion to build a new recycled plastic manufacturing facility near Atlanta. The facility will process plastic waste into materials which in turn are used to manufacture new plastic items.

According to the company, the proposed 2.5 million square-foot facility will be located at Thomaston, between Macon and Columbus. It will have capacity to process approximately 400,000 tons of plastic waste, thereby preventing them from ending up in landfills. The plant will provide as many as 200 job opportunities with an average salary of around $51,500. The construction of the facility is expected to commence next year, with scheduled opening slated for 2027.

The company plans to invest in a new technology that will ensure that the water used in the plastic recycling process are treated and recirculated, thus preventing them from being discharged into waterways. Also, it will employ best available technologies to ensure reduced carbon emissions. Brightmark also plans to invest in infrastructure projects aimed at improving road, rail and utility services to the project site.
